In this post you can read about the experience regarding triathlon wetsuit use of Lāsma. She’s an officer in the Armed Forces of Latvia and an amateur triathlete. In July 2020 she set a Latvian record in Ironman 70.3 distance and with the time of 4:54:09 is the first sub5 woman in Latvia. In September 2020 in “Ironman Tallinn” with the time 10:14:37 she broke the woman’s Latvian record by nearly 2 hours. She shares her experience about Zone 3 Vision and Roka Maverick X wetsuits. Many thanks for sharing her experience!
Triathlon wetsuit user experience of Lāsma
“I started to race triathlon in 2017 when I decided to take a year off of mountain bike racing and to try something new. Back then, swimming was my weakest discipline (and still is despite significant improvements of swimming technique and a lot of hours spent in swimming pool and open water). In 2019. I decided to try my first Ironman 70.3 and immediatelly fell in love with feeling of crossing Ironman finish line. Since then, training for Ironman became a huge part of my life. In 2020. I raced Ironman Tallinn where I also managed to set Latvian record – 10:14:37.
My first wetsuit was Zone 3 Vision. It helped me with the buoyancy and made my first experience in open water swimming more comfortable. As it’s cones, I could mention a little bit stiffness and tightness and movement restriction in shoulders. But in general, wetsuit was reliable and definately good looking.
When I decided to train for full Ironman, I changed my wetsuit for Roka Maverick X and I can say that is almost perfect wetsuit. Almost, because of its expensive price. Roka Maverick X comes in twelve different sizes for women so there is a possibility to choose one for different body types. When I first tried it, I was amazed how light it felt, I had no movement restriction in shoulders because of “arms up” construction for shoulder flexibility and that, in my opinion, is it’s biggest advantage. Wetsuit has also added buoyancy at the lower body. At first, I wasn’t sure if it helped me, but I just had to get used to it. Overall, I would recommend Roka Maverick X for perfect open water swimming experience. “
